Square Enix announced an English version of Final Fantasy Portal, a mobile app that gives the users a fun way to get the latest Final Fantasy updates during this year's E3 conference. The application will be available for free with in-app purchases at the iTunes Store and Google Play Store this summer.
The mobile app reports Final Fantasy news and a point system to keep players informed and entertained. The news provided are all related to Final Fantasy series, including games, music, merchandise, and events.
By logging in with a Square Enix ID and viewing news and videos, players can gain points which can be exchanged for in-game items and digital content like wallpapers.
The portal also has the Final Fantasy VIII mini-game Triple Triad built inside it. This mini-game is a popular card game in the World of Final Fantasy, VIII which was created by a psychic named Orlan who modified fortune-telling cards for use in a game.
Triple Triad is just a side quest of the game, but the rarer items are mostly found by refining the cards from the mini-game.
An announcement, which could even count as a miracle from Square Enix that shook the gaming world, was the Final Fantasy VII remake. According to Tetsuya Nomura, Square Enix director, the upcoming RPG 'won't be just a remake.'
"Even if we were only making the graphics prettier for a next-generation machine, I don't think it would exceed the original version. If that were the case, the original International version will be available on PlayStation 4, so you could just play that and be done," he added.
The game, which was considered the hallmark title of the RPG genre, was first released on PlayStation in 1997. The original game was highly regarded for its epic storyline, unique characters, movie sequences that utilized most advanced technology of that era.
Final Fantasy VII sold over 11 million copies worldwide, and still continues to receive great remarks from critics and fans around the world.
