E3 2015: AMD Reveals New PC Graphic Cards

At the annual E3 game event, AMD announced that they will start the 'new Era of PC Gaming' with their upcoming advanced PC graphic cards. Gamers will now be able to aquire the Radeon R9 Fury X, Nano and 300 series, R7 300 series to explore 4K, virtual reality and other technologies that are currently pushing PC hardware.

Dr. Lisa Su, AMD CEO and President, said that they stand for building great products.

"Today we're not just talking about a chip, we're talking about a family of products. When we think about GPUs and gamers, we think about every aspect that's important. It's about performance, power, power efficiency, and new form factors. It's about what we can bring to PC gaming," she stated.

AMD presented the liquid-cooled Radeon R9 Fury X and the air-cooled Radeon R9 Fury which utilizes their new Fiji architecture with high-bandwidth Memory. This allows graphic cards to shrink dramatically.

Although their graphics card rival company Nvidia has created successful developments like Titan X desktop GPUs and the G-Sync platform that generates smoother-looking gameplay, AMD is still fighting for the top spot.

AMD's GPUs power both the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 and also Apple's improved 15-inch MacBook Pro. They also have their own version of GPU/display syncing called Freesync but the details have not yet been revealed.

The company proclaimed that their new GPU flagship, Radeon R9 Fury, is the "most advanced innovative GPU ever created for the enthusiastic market." With their new features, such as the HBM, the new GPU delivers three times the performance per watt from its DDR5 RAM.

The R9 Fury is relatively small, 7.5 inches long, which would be perfect for PC cases designed for living room use.

All of AMD's graphic cards are compatible with Microsoft Windows 10 and DirectX 12. R9 Fury will be on sale beginning June 24 and will cost around $650. The other graphic cards are expected to arrive on June 18 and will cost from $100 to $400.
