The wrongful death lawsuit filed by Meadow Walker (Paul Walker's daughter), was responded to by the German automobile manufacturer specializing in high-performance sports car - Porsche. The daughter of the Fast & Furious actor claims that her father would still be alive if the vehicle had proper safety features that would have given him the necessary protection from the tremendous impact of the crash.
A representative of Porsche, said in a statement, "We felt sorrow whenever anyone is hurt in a Porsche vehicle, but we believe the authorities' reports in this case clearly recognized that this tragic crash resulted from reckless driving and excessive speed."
Reportedly, the Sheriff's Department of Los Angeles County stated that the 2005 Porsche Carrera GT, which was driven by Roger Rodas (Paul Walker's friend) was on the speed of "between 80 and 93 mph at the time the car hit a power pole and several trees." This was coupled with a report from CNN claiming that the speed limit posted on the office park road should have only been 45 mph.
The lawsuit alleges that despite the car manufacturer's statement, "knowing that the Carrera GT had a history of being unstable and control issues," Porsche "was unsuccessful to install its electronic stability control system," which the company claims to "specifically contrived to protect against the swerving actions inherent in hyper-sensitive vehicles of this type." Other vehicles of Porsche features these control systems.
In addition, the lawsuit also claims that a "defective" seat belt design kept Paul Walker trapped in the vehicle. The actor might have been able to get out of the car before it caught fire, if not for that defect. The fire itself was allegedly caused by faulty rubber fuel lines.
Paul Walker and Roger Rodas were killed in a tragic car accident on November 30, 2013. The amount of damages Meadow Walker is seeking is not identified in the lawsuit.
