Gwyneth Paltrow and husband Chris Martin decided to call it quits in 2014. The couple publicly announced their decision on Paltrow's Goop website, where the couple described the separation as "consciously uncouple."
The phrase used in the marriage split announcement received a lot of mockery, apparently the 'Iron Man' 3 star claims that she has nothing to do with the word that was used to describe their separation after nine years of living as a couple, the Independent reports.
In the September issue of Fast Company magazine, the Oscar winning actress admitted that she did not write the 2014 post, it was Elise Loehnen, who is the editor of the website wrote the blog and used the term in the headline without giving her a warning.
She explains, "When I announced that I was separating on the website, [Editorial Director] Elise Loehnen titled the piece Conscious Uncoupling and I had no idea."
Apparently in the website, Paltrow used the term in the split announcement, they wrote, "We have always conducted our relationship privately, and we hope that as we consciously uncouple and co-parent, we will be able to continue in the same manner. Love, Gwyneth & Chris.')"
According to Daily Mail, Paltrow's mother Blythe Danner admits that she also had a hard time of understanding the phrase that was used by the ex-couple.
She said, "People make fun of this, um, what do they call it? What is that thing that they've been doing? Separating, but being?"
"but it's called 'conscious' . . . not 'conscious uncoupling.' Conscious...," referring to the "conscious uncoupling"
Adding that her daughter don't mind the all of the drama, "I always like it when there's a big response to something because it tells me, 'Oh we've touched a nerve here, this is really interesting."
"There are a lot of media companies that would die to have the kind of response that we get from our content, she added."
