Tom Selleck Pays $22,000 Charge of a New Confidential Investigator in California Water Dispute

Tom Selleck the star in the American television series "Magnum, P.I.," paid almost $22,000 for the settlement of charges of syphoning water from fire hydrants, which a private investigator exposed. Tom Selleck had to settle this setback with Ventura County over his alleged water theft where the actor illegally diverted truckloads of water into his ranch during drought season.

On July 6, the Calleguas Municipal Water District officials filed a legal complaint against Selleck, for tapping a nearby hydrant from Calleguas district was to supply water to the actor's ranch.

On Wednesday, the directors of the agency had approved the legal settlement between Selleck and the Calleguas district, that Tom Selleck cannot draw water from the district to be used in the actor's ranch in the Hidden Valley area northwest of Los Angeles.

Several times from 2013 to 2015 as the district said, that the actor filled a water-tender truck from a Calleguas district hydrant and delivered the water to Selleck's ranch.

When a devastating four-year drought hit California, which resulted the State to release mandatory water cutbacks on cities and towns, that's when the water controversy of Selleck got exposed.

Marty Singer, Tom Selleck's attorney, stated, "Mr. Selleck previously paid for all the water that he utilized, which the Calleguas Municipal Water District acknowledged had not been stolen"

Susan Mulligan, the Calleguas water district general manager, stated, "It was unclear if Selleck might have paid the construction company for use of the water," and Susan Mulligan also said, "No one has a legal right to district water by simply paying a rate to another water user based on the volume of water questionably obtained."

The manager of resources for the Calleguas water district, Eric Bergh, stated that, as Tom Selleck is not a resident of the district, he has not fully paid the water and the actor avoided tax assessments and fees
