Morgan Freeman's Step-Granddaughter's Boyfriend Pleads Not Guilty

Lamar Davenport, the boyfriend of Morgan Freeman's step granddaughter has pleaded not guilty over the stabbing incident that lead to her death.

After being charged with one count of murder in the second degree last month, Lamar appeared in court in Manhattan on Tuesday and completely denied the allegations.

But the judge heard that there are witnesses who saw him on top of the victim the same day she died. The prosecutor also told the judge that the victim received 25 stab wounds. She was found lying cold blooded in front of her apartment with a knife still in her chest when authorities arrived at the crime scene, contact music reported.

According to BT by the time Lamar was arrested he ranted to the police after he was arrested. "I don't even know why I'm here right now," he told the officers at a Manhattan precinct station shortly after he was arrested on August 16.

Court papers also show that while being driven to a hospital, Lamar is said speaking incoherently. He was reportedly yelling at that time, Jesus Christ "saviour" and the devil "evil" before telling the officers to "repent for their sins. He also asked the police officers if they believed in Jesus and keep on complaining about the hand cuff.

At the hospital he was given a sedative, by the time he woke up he was screaming "Why did this happen? No, no! Why God?" according to the court papers.

"Beloved to her family and friends, Edena Hines had recently returned to New York City to pursue her acting career, but her life was tragically cut short before she could achieve her dreams," Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance noted, according to BT.

Davenport's lawyer reportedly did not respond to the allegations and just told the judge that her client was due to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.
