After the success of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, the DC Cinematic Universe seems determined to release more hard-hitting films in the next few years. One of the most anticipated DC movies is the second Superman solo flick, tentatively titled 'Man of Steel 2.'
However, if you ask Zack Snyder, it seems like there is already a sequel to his 2013 superhero flick. In an interview with Canoe, the 'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' director confirmed what everyone has been thinking about for some time now.
"I think in a way 'Batman v Superman' is 'Man of Steel 2,'" Snyder said. "Justice League is kind of the transcendent, knights-of-the-round-table of the story. It'd be interesting to think about what a standalone Superman movie might be."
Zack Snyder also admitted that he already has a plan on how to deal with the two-part 'Justice League' movies, which will be released in 2017 and 2019.
"We really have to figure out the why of them, and I think that we have," he said. "That's the one thing that's cool to me about 'Batman v Superman,' it's all about the mythology of these two massive icons. And I think that's compelling."
The 'Sucker Punch' director had previously made news for his comments about superhero films, especially the 'flavor of the week Ant-Man' statement. Zack Snyder expanded on how he agreed with Steven Spielberg.
"The pressure's on us, the filmmakers, to make the movies better," he said. "It's about human stories; it's not just about big explosions and stuff. What are these people feeling?"
Zack Snyder's comment had not gone unnoticed by the Marvel camp. 'Captain America: Civil War' star Sebastian Stan had recently spoken up about the statement and immediately threw a fast one at the 'Batman v Superman' director.
"I would say we're still making something very original in our own way," Stan had said. "I mean, the Russos are coming in and taking something people are used to and they're shaping it up and changing it in a very different way. They're not trying to mimic a better Christopher Nolan movie or something like that."
'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' will premiere on March 23, 2016.
