There are a handful of animated feature films scheduled for theatrical release over the remaining months of 2015.
Sony Pictures Animation has the comedy/sequel Hotel Transylvania 2, Disney/Pixar will release its second original toon of 2015, The Good Dinosaur, and 20th Century Fox is bringing Charlie Brown and friends back to the big screen with the studio’s own November release, The Peanuts Movie.
A new website from the creators of the upcoming, The Peanuts Movie allows fans to transform themselves into a modern-day Peanuts character and share the results on Facebook and Twitter.
The app lets users create their own avatar with trademark Peanuts characteristics, like squiggly mouths, big hair and weird tights. They can even choose which Peanuts setting they want to be placed in, from the school dance to the famed Peanuts ice skating pond.
E! News took the the app to another level by transforming some popular celebrites like Miley Cyrus, Katy Perry and Taylor Swift into a cartoon character.
Peanuts Movies was written by the late Peanuts comic strip creator Charles Schulz’s son and grandson (Craig and Bryan Schulz) and newcomer Cornelius Uliano, as well as directed by Steve Martino and produced by Paul Feig.
"I always imagined what it would be like to live in Charlie Brown's neighborhood," says Craig Schulz. "With this website, we all can."
"There's something about Peanuts that's woven into the fabric of our lives," says Martino. "Now those tools are out there for everyone to do a Peanut-ized version of themselves."
Yes, even Donald Trump: "There's a hairstyle that just might be close to his," says Martino.
The filmmakers behind The Peanuts Movie have crafted a Peanuts film that might yet please the older fans of the franchise, while at the same time leading a younger generation to fall in love with ‘Chuck’, Snoopy, and the rest of the gang.
The Peanuts Movie opens in U.S. theaters on November 6, 2015.
