According to Wefood's website, every year, Denmark throws more than 700,000 tons of food. This is considered as food waste, costing 11.6 billion Danish krone per year. At the same time, more than 800 million people with hunger each day. In addition, Wefood wants to create profits for the world's poorest and ensure global sustainability.
Usually, social supermarkets target those in the poverty line offering exclusive discounted food. Wefood is unique specie of social supermarket because its offerings are for the general public, and not exclusively for the poor.

A supermarket like WeFood makes so much sense and is an important step in the battle to combat food waste."
