Patrick Stewart Surprised by Golden Globe Nomination for 'Blunt Talk'

Most celebrities, actors and actresses are eager to learn if they are being nominated for a spot at the Golden Globes. Some even keeping an eye out for the mailman, the ping from their email address, or an online feed announcement. For Patrick Stewart, he didn't realize it was on Thursday morning.

Stewart's wife, Sunny Ozell, went online that very day and saw the announcement then excitedly told Stewart of the news.

"I was taken by surprise, which is probably the best way for it to happen." After that, the phones wouldn't stop ringing, text messages kept coming in. The award winning actor was just elated.

Patrick Stewart was nominated this year for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series, Musical or Comedy. This would be his third nomination. Previously, he was nominated for the 2005 The Lion in Winter and for the 1999 Moby Dick.

He's more excited about Starz's stats though. The network has gained momentum with outstanding nominations for Flesh and Bone and Outlander.

"They got six nominations!" Stewart exclaims excitedly.

When asked what his character Walter Blunt would think about the nomination, Stewart claims, "He would have been delighted and obnoxious and intolerable, I think... He would be basking in the good feeling."

The announcment also included Golden Globe nominations for Orange is the New Black, Lady Gaga was also nominated for her role in American Horror Story: Hotel.

What is more exciting is that he shared news about Blunt Talk being picked up for a second season and they start production in January.

The elated actor can't think of anything else, "My mind is full of Blunt Talk at the moment, so this is kind of a pat on the back that can launch us onto a second season very happily", as posted online.
