American Horror Story Big Reveal: Sarah Paulson as Billie Dean Connects Season 1 to Season 5

American Horror Story's Sarah Paulson from Season 1 returns to reprise her character role in this season's finale.

Although Paulson has been a regular in AHS she didn't have a big gig back in season one. She filled the minor role of Billie Dean Howard. This season 5, Billie Dean is coming back and the finale will use Dean's psychic abilities while scoping out Hotel Cortez for her new reality television series.

If you're a fan of the show then you are familiar with Billie Dean Howard. She is a psychic medium who was hired by Constance in the first season. Billie Dean was a confidante of Constance, played by Jessica Lange, in the first incarnation of the show. She was found on Craiglist and has been helping Constance for years. Her goal was to shoot a reality show and that's where Hotel Cortez comes in. Her show will focus on her psychic abilities using Cortez as the prime spot.

However, this means that Paulson will be filling two roles - Sally and Billie Dean.

This isn't the first time old characters have been brought back to the current series. Christine Estabrook who plays Marcy, the house real estate agent and Matt Ross who plays resident Dr. Montgomery appeared in a quick flash back as well.

We'll just have to wait for the season finale of American Horror Story to see where Billie Dean's blast from the past would take us.

Reprising roles is something creative Ryan Murphy is quite fond of and has done so in the past seasons but for every role reprised that means the threads of each story gets more confusing. Murphy has been dropping tidbits here and there that American Horror Story might get picked up for two seasons per year. If ever that happens, then it's just going to be a bigger web of confusion, as reported online.

The finale will air soon. And after that, we will all but need to wait for Season 6, as announced online.
