Chris Hemsworth Attends Charity to Help Children Who Suffer From Violence and Trauma

Chris Hemsworth attended a charity auction in Sydney for his upcoming movie In the Heart of the Sea to help raise money for children who have suffered from violence and traumatic experiences.

The 32 year old Thor actor raised money at Audi Australia Film Gala on Tuesday evening to benefit the Australian Childhood foundation. With the bid to establish a trauma and recovery center in Sydney that can provide therapeutic counselling to the victims, the actor reportedly raised about $50,000 after he auctioned numerous amazing prizes.

Top prizes included an opportunity to see the set of Thor: Ragnarok in Gold Coast and a dinner date with Foreign Minister Julie Bishop, Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Hemsworth himself, International Business Times reported.

Hemsworth also partnered with ifOnly.com and organized a sweepstakes. The lucky winner will have the chance to walk with the actor at the red carpet for the premiere of his movie In the Heart of the Sea in New York and will have the chance to party with him at the after- party.

Talking about the once in a life time top prize, Hemsworth told PEOPLE, "New York is always one of my favourite spots to have a premiere, so we'll hang out at the hotel and have a few drinks and just get caught up in the madness of it all."

The charity is very close to the actor's heart as his family was associated with the organization for over 30 years.

Meanwhile, after his title Sexiest Man Alive was ripped from him by David Beckham, his co- star Jessica Chastain from The Huntsman: Winter's War poked him with a joke by sending him a link of Beckham's latest cover to his Twitter account, which she captioned, "Oh man...you must be devastated. I know how much this title meant to you." But the actor just took the jibe in jest by responding "Thank you @jes_chastain for your kind words & timely reminder that I'm now over the hill."
