Asus vs Microsoft: Which Tech Company Will Win Augmented Reality Battle?

Asus has just revealed that they are now creating an augmented reality device which will be released next year. For the first time, Microsoft's HoloLens will have its primary rival in the field of AR.

As what was reported by CNET, Jerry Shen of Asus confirmed the possibility of launching an AR device next year. In his statement, he even said that the AR device will have a significant part in the people's lives.

"It should be next year when we come out with a product. We think AR will be very important for people's lives," the CEO stated.

"You can make a real setting meld together with yourself and the AR portion. Internally, we are talking about how to prepare," Shen added.

Asus is known for its capability of manufacturing large numbers of computers and other related hardware like graphic cards, mother boards, mobile phones and more. If the Taiwanese company will be successful in launching the said AR device, it will emerge as one of the first competitors for other augmented reality headsets like the Microsoft's HoloLens.

Augmented reality is a new technology which creates digital elements in the physical real world. Unlike the Virtual Reality (VR), AR does not display a full dimension of computer-generated sensory input environment.

Recently, the HoloLens of Microsoft is successful in presenting the idea of AR. Through some remarkable demonstrations, HoloLens is now garnering many of people's admiration because of its innovative technology that can really catch everyone's attention.

However, one of the main problem in the Microsoft's device include controlled viewing angles, bulkiness and its extremely high price.

Known for its affordable smartphones, laptops and tablets, it is possible that Asus is planning to build another HoloLens version of an AR device, with a much lower price than Microsoft.

In a related report, the car company Hyundai is currently testing a technology which includes the possible application of AR in the field of automobiles.
