Microsoft Offers Free Windows 10 Upgrade Within a Year of Launch

Users with the Windows 7, 8 and 8.1 OS on their devices will be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free if they will download and update within a year of its availability. Charges will apply after that time period, according to PCWorld.

They will also be able to receive free updates afterwards, if they avail of the upgrade. 

"Microsoft will offer a free upgrade to Windows 10 for qualified Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices in the first year. After the first year, upgrades will be paid via boxed product and VL Upgrades," as explained on a post on the Microsoft Australian Partner Network.

This news would be attractive to those who would like to give the new OS a try, without having to spend a lot of money. Users who are planning to purchase new Windows-based laptops and PCs would have to do so within 12 months of launch time.

A number of technology enthusiasts are looking forward to Windows 10, which is being hyped to deliver more advanced and futuristic features to its users.

There's no official date for the launch as of late, but rumors state that the updated system will be available beginning June or July of this year.
