Rowan Atkinson's Wife Sunetra Granted Divorced On Grounds Of His 'Unreasonable Behavior'

Rowan Atkinson's wife Sunetra Sastry was granted a decree nisi at the Central Family Court after 25 years of marriage over his "unreasonable behavior."

According to the Daily Record, the 'Mr Bean' actor was not present at the brief proceedings in central London, where his former wife was granted a divorce on the grounds of his "unreasonable behavior."

Sunetra was reportedly granted a decree nisi against the 60 year old 'Blackadder' actor. Although, the divorce paper was made public, the details regarding the unreasonable behavior ground was kept confidential.

Andrew Newbury, head of family law at Slater and Gordon explained to the Daily Record that "unreasonable behavior" is a common ground for divorce. "Even in the happiest of marriages, it's always possible to find behavior which can be described as unreasonable." He said such ground includes, the partner "talks too much", or the other "never listens", or that a husband "always wants to go out with friends."

Mr Newbury further explained that "Although described as granting a divorce, the divorce itself won't be made final until Sunetra Atkinson applies for the decree absolute."

Rowan and Sunetra first met when she was working as a make-up artist on the second series of 'Blackadder.' The pair wed in February 1990 and have two children together, daughter Lily and son Benjamin. But after 25 years of marriage the couple split last year.

During the split, the estrange couple were in the middle of building an £11million home in Oxfordshire, according to Hello magazine. Rowan moved into a £4million London cottage while Sunetra is living in a £21million mansion in the capital.

Shortly after the split Rowan started dating the actress Louise Ford. The pair first met in 2013 while starring in comic play Quartermaine's Terms in the West End together. Since the pair went public about their relationship, they were pictured numerous times looking head over heels for one another.
