Walk More Every Day to Keep the Doctor Away

A milestone research conducted by The George Institute for Global Health has discovered that exercise can sustain lives, with a growth in the amount of steps walked each day creating a direct equivalence with long term existence.

According to study author Professor Terry Dwyer, this was the first time studies has been able to make the connection between exercise, calculated instantly through pedometers, and decreased mortality rate over time in people who looked healthy at the beginning.

Prof Dwyer added that lethargy is a major public health concern, with cases like obesity that costs the economy tens of billions of dollars annually.

Earlier researches calculated the physical activity through questionnaire method only, but these outcomes are stronger and give us greater certainty that we can avoid mortality from major illnesses by being more active.

As per Medical News Today, the study should highly encourage each person to make sure that they do regular exercise and incite authorities to come up with more opportunities for physical activity in the societies.

Professor Dwyer also said that the research has observed about 3,000 Australians over the last 15 years and was administered in partnership with the Menzies Research Institute in Tasmania.

The findings that were published in the journal PLOS ONE discovered that:

§  A motionless individual who raised his or her steps from 1,000 to 10,000 daily had a 46% lower death risk

§  A motionless individual who raised his or her steps to 3,000 per day in a span of five days a week had a 12% decreased chances in death.

As stated by Professor Dwyer, the connection between daily steps and mortality was extremely nonpartisan of factors such as smoking and Body Mass Index or BMI.

Pedometers and activity equipment are increasing in recognition, so the capacity to assess and understand the advantages of physical exercise are at everyone's fingertips and we should all take the upper hand.
