Guns N' Roses' Former Drummer Criticises Foo Fighters for 'Lack of Danger'

Matt Sorum, the former drummer of the American hard rock band - Guns N' Roses, has stated that the band founded by Dave Grohl - Foo Fighter - is lacking some "danger" - Matt describes the Foo Fighters live shows as predictable.

However, Matt Sorum, who recorded three studio albums with Guns N' Roses, is currently having a tour with the international band - Kings Of Chaos, featuring the likes of the famous bassist who is known for his twelve years with the hard rock band Guns N' Roses - Duff McKagan and the former frontman of the American heavy metal band Skid Row - Sebastian Bach.

As Matt Sorum was talking with Ultimate Classic Rock, Sorum compared Sebastian Bach to the lead vocalist of the hard rock band Guns N' Roses - Axl Rose, Matt Sorum said, "Sebastian and Axl are both powerhouses. I think it's a bit of a lost art form."

Matt Sorum added about Sebastian Bach and Axl Rose, "A lot of the bands that are coming out now, you don't really hear those kinds of powerful voices... You know, I see bands with a frontman who are really satisfactory. Having a high-pitched sound which is very clean. And I really don't feel I'm getting that wild, rock 'n' roll delicacy that I desire."

Matt Sorum then turned his attention to the band behind the 'Learn To Fly' song - Foo Fighters, and said, "I have an intense feeling of deep affection to Dave Grohl, don't get me wrong. But Dave Grohl is a drummer who got out in front of the stage with a guitar. Is there any possibility of suffering harm in it? Not really."

Matt Sorum continued and said, "If you watch the Foo Fighters perform in a show, you're gonna see a group play their set, and everything is gonna go down nicely, and Dave Grohl will thank the crowd, and everyone's gonna go home and go 'Wow, that was a really nice rock 'n' roll show'. Not everything went perfect in any of the bands I've been a part of, but I know one thing: As people went on their way home, they're going - 'Holy shit, what was that?'"
