Though she became known because of her music, Rihanna is no stranger to Hollywood and now it seems like she's showing everyone what else she can do aside from making albums.
Rihanna has just landed a major role alongside Cara Delevingne in the upcoming film adaptation of the French novel series entitled "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" directed by the well-known French action director, Luc Besson, E! Online reported.
Besson, who couldn't keep his chills on the new project that Riri is in, made the big announcement on his Instagram page on Wednesday, October 28.
He posted a photo of a fierce-looking Rihanna and captioned it, "RIHANNA is in VALERIAN!!! ... and she has a big part!! I'm Sooo excited!!!"
Following Besson's announcement, which immediately made headlines in social media, the veteran director is yet to reveal who Rihanna will be playing in the movie.
Though Besson couldn't be more excited on working with Rihanna on the big project, he admitted that the movie adaptation of Valerian has been by far "the biggest challenge" to his career.
"I have around 800 days of work ahead of me, plenty of time to be discouraged or feel lonely, so I'm counting on your support, he quoted on a Facebook post back in July. "I will try to share my adventure with you as much as I can."
Going back to Rihanna, who's probably adding another acting credits to her resume with the new movie, has also starred in several hit movies in the last few years, including 2012's 'Battleship', 2014's 'Annie' and 2015's 'Home'.
The filming is set to kick off starting January, which will reportedly be taking place at Besson's huge studio situated outside Paris.
'Valerian and the City of Thousand Planets' will be hitting cinema theatres on July 21, 2017.
