'Cleaver Meat': Producer Goes ‘Paleo’ in Australian Supermarket Campaign

Cleaver's is now selling new sausage and beef burger options as part of its "paleo range" for Australian supermarkets.

Australian Food News reported that organic meat company Cleaver's paleo products were first launched earlier in 2015. However, the Australian meat producer said it is expanding the range due to its popularity.

For starters, the paleo diet is based around eating whole foods such as vegetable, fruits, nuts and whole foods whist cutting dairy and processed foods. The company's paleo meats campaign has been created in cooperation with paleo diet advocate and celebrity chef Pete Evans.

Cleaver's paleo range now includes the following products: 1) Organic Tomato Beef Burgers; 2) Organic Beef Burgers; 3) Pork Sausages (free range); 4) Chilli Pork Sausages (free range); 5) Organic Honey Beef Chipolatas; and 5) Organic Beef Sausage. The promotion emphasized that all the meat is Australian and contains no grain, soy or preservatives.

Moreover, the campaign claimed that Cleaver's paleo meat range is available from both Woolworth and Coles. It has a recommended retail price of AUD$8.99 for a stock package in each product category.

A Sydney run butcher store founded the Cleaver's Meat, an Australian company, in 1998. It stated on its website that all of its products are sourced from animals which have been raised in a completely free range environment.

"Cleaver's Organic beef and lamb products meet the strict animal welfare requirements of the Australian Certified Organic standard (ACO)," the description read. "Cleaver's Free Range pork products are Certified Free Range according to the strict requirements of the Australian Pork Industry Quality Assurance program (APIQ)."

It also claimed that its products have low allergen and are gluten-free. "We produce our products in a quarantined environment meaning our products are free from any traces of tree nuts, peanuts, eggs, gluten, shellfish and fish."

"A small percentage of our product range (some meatballs, sausages and burgers) contain the Soy allergen. We follow strict processes and procedures to ensure there is no cross contamination of this allergen in any of our other products," the company claimed on its website. "Our Cleavers Paleo sausages, meatballs and burgers are totally soy and allergen free."
