Travis Barker has opened up about surviving the tragic plane crash that killed four people back in 2008. He admitted that though he survived the horrific incident, it left him with such excruciating pain that he even wanted to take his own life.
It was September 2008, when the Blink 182 drummer was heading to California. While the jet was taking off from South Carolina the tire burst out. The plane exploded after it collided with the embankment at the airport.
The incident claimed four people's lives, including the two pilots, his security guard and personal assistant. He managed to escape from it along with his late friend DJ AM. But he was left with severe burns on over 60 percent of his body and underwent 27 surgeries and skin grafts.
Now, talking about the difficult process that he had been through, Travis admitted that he almost took away his own life, even offering $1 million to his friends to take away his life.
"I mean, [medical officials] had to take my phone out of my room because I was making these phone calls, Travis told ABC. "I would call friends of mine and go, 'You know, I'll deposit a million dollars into whoever's bank account. Like, I'm done.'"
He spend four months in a burn center while undergoing surgeries. He recalled the day the explosion happened, his body was on fire and just moments away from being caught in the explosion. Luckily, he still managed to escape from the burning plane and "I don't know why, and then we realise, you know, we're out of the plane and... the plane explodes," Travis recalled.
Barker who has two young children, Alabama, 9, and Landon, 12, realized that he must move on with his life for his kids. He also bravely reflects about the 2008 incident in his new memoir, "Can I Say: Living Large, Cheating Death, and Drums, Drums, Drums."
