New England Patriots' Quarterback Tom Brady is in the news once again, and this time it has nothing to do with deflated footballs. The four-time Superbowl winner has just endorsed Donald Trump as the next President of the United States.
Rumors of Brady's choice of candidate began swirling last week, when a baseball cap bearing Trump's 'Make America Great Again' slogan was spotted in his locker during a post-game interview. This time Brady made sure to let everybody know who he thinks should succeed Barack Obama at the White House.
When asked by reporters about Trump's odds of winning the general election, Brady replied:
"I hope so. That would be great. There'd be a putting green on the White House lawn. I know that."
He said that the hat was a 'nice keepsake.' Last week, Brady spoke about how it came into his possession. Speaking with Boston news station WEEI he said:
"He sent it to me via R.K.K.," a reference to Robert Kraft, the owner of The New England Patriots.
"He always gives me a call and different types of motivational speeches at different times. So now that he's running for president, he sent me a hat, and he gave it to R.K.K. a couple weeks ago. So it found its way to my locker."
Trump and Brady's friendship goes way back to 2002, with the football star saying he always admired Trump's achievements.
"I mean it's pretty amazing what he's been able to accomplish. He obviously appeals to a lot of people, and he's a hell of a lot of fun to play golf with."
The presidential hopeful was one of Brady's most vocal supporters during the 'deflategate' scandal that rocked the NFL over the summer. Earlier this year, he urged Brady to sue the league over their treatment of him during the investigation.
