Father of Scientology Leader David Miscavige to Write Exposing Tell All Book

Earlier today, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Ronald Miscavige Sr., the father of The Church of Scientology's current leader David Miscavige, has inked a deal to publish his memoir, If He Dies, He Dies, with St. Martin's Press.

The book will undoubtedly shed more light on the much talked about and highly controversial religion, which counts celebrities like Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Will Smith among its followers.

The THR report mentions that the title of Miscavige Sr's memoir comes from a recently published Los Angeles Times piece which details his son's shocking actions against him.

The LA times reports that David Miscavige had his father placed on 24 hour surveillance for fears he might reveal sensitive information about the church to outside sources. Miscavige paid two private detectives $10,000 a week to monitor his father's every move, including things like keeping tabs on his emails and tracking him with a GPS device.

The title comes from an incident where in during surveillance, one of the investigators saw the elder Miscavige clench his chest in an apparent heart attack. When the detective called his Scientology handlers to ask what to do, he received a phone call from David himself, who uttered the lines now featured on the book's title.

This is just the latest in a string of public relations battles the Church is facing. Earlier this year, HBO released director Alex Gibney's revealing documentary on the organization called "Going Clear: Scientology and The Prison of Belief" which was based on author Lawrence Wright's book of the same name.

The documentary reveals some of the Church's questionable activities over the course of its existence. The film claims the organization was responsible for breaking up Tom Cruise's marriage to Nicole Kidman and that they organized a selection process to find him a new girlfriend among other things.
