Charlie Hunman just proved that he is a man of honor. The actor revealed that he pulled out from the role as Christian Grey in the '50 Shades of Grey,' so he can stay committed to Guillermo del Toro's 'Crimson Peak.'
Talking with V Magazine, the 35 year old actor opened up why he pulled out from the erotic romance movie '50 Shades of Grey,' just weeks after he had been cast.
It was 2013, when news broke out that the hunky star backed out from playing Mr. Grey. Hunman said that the sudden decision was due to scheduling conflicts, which is why he opted put of playing the striking billionaire in the movie. He also said that the "heartbreaking" decision was the "worst professional experience" of his career. He finds it "emotionally destructive."
Although it's a difficult decision to bare, he said that it's more important to keep his promise.
He explained to the mag, "I'd given Guillermo my word, over a year before, that I was going to do this film. People were saying, 'Are you crazy? Guillermo still has got four months to recast, it's the fourth lead, you can go and do this [instead]."
''I said, 'I can't. He's my friend, I've done a film with him, I gave him my word.'''
He also denied rumors that his exit had something to do with the explicit, sexual nature of the film.
After he backed out from the adaptation of the erotic novel, the role was then given to Jamie Dornan.
Talking about the "Sons of Anarchy" Charlie also confessed that leaving Jax Teller's character was also a very hard decision. Hunman told the magazine, which will be in newsstands September 17, "I smoked a few joints and sat on the back lots and cried a bunch and said goodbye to him."
