The long wait is finally over as Apple's CEO Tim Cook announced their newest iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus during the company's launching event in San Francisco.
The two new iPhones are noticeably different in sizes. The iPhone 6S has a 4.7-inch display while the iPhone 6S Plus has the 5.5-inch retina display. Apple said that their screen displays are covered by a super-strong glass which is engineered to protect the phone's delicate display.
The two phones are available in gold, silver, rose gold and space grey colors.
One of the highlights in the new 6S edition is its restructured 3D Touch. The new technology will allow the user to enjoy a more exciting consumer experience.
Craig Federighi, the senior vice president of software engineering stated the feature of 3D touch. "3D Touch allows you to take actions on apps without having to open them."
As an illustration, if the user wants to open an email, 3D Touch requires an application of little pressure in order to preview the said email. When the user presses the screen a little harder, the email then fully opens.
In the same manner, the user can open photos, messages and other apps by simply changing the amount pressure applied on the screen.
The camera was also upgraded to a 12-megapixel iSight camera to have a more detailed imaging system. Video quality is also enhanced as the company offers a full HD video recording and a 4K resolution video experience for the first time. Apple also offers a new impressive technology called Live Photos which is made of moving photographs incorporated with sound.
In terms of performance, the new iPhones are powered with the company's latest A9 processor. It's a 3rd generation 64 bit chipset that can offer a faster performance and is energy efficient. Its wireless connection is also improved as the new smartphones have 23 LTE bands which offer faster LTE and Wi-Fi. Accessories for the iPhones are also presented such as chargers and leather covers.
During the event, other Apple devices were also presented like the new iPad Pro and Apple TV.
