Apple recently unveiled a slew of new products at its much hyped 'Hello Siri' event yesterday. The big highlights were the stylus sporting iPad Pro and the annual refresh of its roster of iPhone smartphones.
The new iPad is Apple's attempt at cornering the portable pc market currently populated by devices like Microsoft's Surface Pro tablet. Like the Surface, the iPad Pro will feature an optional keyboard cover that pushes it firmly into the realm of content creation devices. The big downside is that the peripheral will cost an additional $169 on top of the new iPad's base price of $799.
Its full specs are as follows:
- 12.9″ screen rocking a 2,732 x 2,048 display
- 6.9mm thin, weighs 1.57 lbs
- Starts at $799 for the 32GB model
- Powerful new A9X chip that's 1.8x than the A8 before it.
- 10-hour battery life
- 8MP iSight camera
- Touch ID
- Powerful four speaker audio
The new stylus dubbed the Apple Pencil also impressed many in attendance, but those interested will have to shell out $99 to get one.
This year's iteration of the iPhone also has some new features, but it's nowhere near the seismic shift introduced by last year's 6 and 6 plus models. The big new change is Apple's new 3D touch technology, which borrows from the force touch system introduced in the new 12-inch macbook. It features tactile feedback that gives users more control over their device.
Apple's much rumored Apple TV upgrade finally became reality yesterday. It ships with a new Siri-powered remote with motion sensors and physical buttons similar to Nintendo's Wiimote controller. This is all part of Apple's plan of making the Apple TV a more gaming centric device where users can play mobile apps and games on their TV. It starts at $149 for 32GB model with more storage options available.
