Johnny Depp's Wife's Australian Dog-Smuggling Case Adjourned

Amber Heard, Johnny Depp's wife did a 'no show' before the judges in Australia's Gold Coast on Monday, where she was summoned to answer charges for smuggling her pet dogs into Australia.

The Hollywood couple failed to show up in court, according to BBC News.

Her failure to attend the court proceedings was actually expected as she was seen attending the Venice Film Festival over the weekend. The case is being adjourned until Nov.2.

Depp's wife faces a possible 10 year imprisonment and a hefty fine for illegally importing the two dogs into the country and for providing customs with false documents.

Heard was charged for two counts of illegally importing the two dogs in Australia and one count of falsification of documents.

Earlier this year, the discovery of the dogs within the Gold Coast Mansion where the couple were staying for the filming of the Pirates of the Carribean drew a lot of media attention, dubbed as the #War On Terrier. The 2 terriers were brought in the country via Depp's private jet.

Australia implements strict quarantine laws on animals to prevent any forms of diseases from spreading within its territory.

Barnaby Joyce,Minister of the Australian Agricultural Ministry, threatened to have Boo and Pistol euthanized if they were not removed from the territory within 50 hours. This of course prompted an indignant response from dog lovers everywhere.

Joyce said during that time, "If we start letting movie stars -- even though they've been the sexiest man alive twice -- to come into our nation (with pets), then why don't we just break the laws for everybody?" "It's time that Pistol and Boo buggered off back to the United States."

During her interview with Sky News, Joyce promised the public that the couple won't be receiving any special treatment, they will be treated just like anybody else.

Heard was the only one charged with dog smuggling, the Department of Agriculture nor the office of the prosecutors refused to comment why Depp wasn't charged.

While promoting his new film 'The Departed 2: Black Mass,' Depp was quoted joking about his dog issue.

"I killed my dogs and ate them under direct orders from some kind of, I don't know, sweaty, big-gutted man from Australia," he said during press conference.
