Actress Danica McKellar Joins Miss America Judging Panel

The American actress, mathematician who portrayed Winnie Cooper in the television series, The Wonder Years - Danica McKellar, got on board the prestigious 2016 Miss America pageant as one of the judging panelists.

Danica McKellar said in a statement, "The Miss America Organization shares my passion for the advancement of women in the STEM fields and celebrates smart, strong women," McKellar also said, "I am proud to be part of the show and an organization that is such a huge advocate for education." 

Aside from being an actress and mathematician, the 40 year old Danica McKellar is the author of books that's aiming at young students and high schoolers, McKellar's books include - Math Doesn't Suck: How to Survive Middle School Math Without Losing Your Mind or Breaking a Nail, Hot X: Algebra Exposed and Girls Get Curves: Geometry Takes Shape.

Danica McKellar made an impact as an actress, in Wonder Years that debuted in 1988 and ended in 1993. Danica McKellar also appeared on How I Met Your Mother, The West Wing and The Big Bang Theory. Like some of the Miss America judges, Danica McKellar also participated in the Dancing with the Stars competition.

The panel of judges , whom McKellar will join are American country music singer - Brett Eldredge, author and veteran family activist - Taya Kyle, television personality and entrepreneur- Kevin O'Leary, American actress and 2014 Paralympics bronze medalist -  Amy Purdy, and singer-actress - Zendaya.

The 2016 Miss America pageant organizers will reveal the final judge next week, as one slot remains unfilled.

The 2016 Miss America competition will be hosted by Chris Harrison and Brooke Burke-Charvet and  the musical curator of the contest will be Nick Jonas (member of the pop rock band Jonas Brothers). 

Miss America Organization and Dick Clark Productions will produce the event.

On Sunday, September 13, the 95th Miss America Competition will broadcast live from Atlantic City's Boardwalk Hall on ABC.
