Taylor Swift Vs Ed Sheeran At The MTV VMAs 2015: Swift Won 'Video of the Year' Award For Her 'Bad Blood' Music Video

The ginger-haired singer-songwriter, Ed Sheeran and the 'Bad Blood' hit-maker, Taylor Swift, were in a close fight for being two of the top nominees during the MTV Video Music Awards held at the Microsoft Theater situated in Los Angeles, on Sunday, August 30.

Taylor Swift led the overall nominations during the night, where she gathered 10 awards for her hit music video 'Bad Blood' including the 'Video of the Year' award, the 'Best Collaboration' and 'Best Cinematography' awards,

While Sheeran on the other hand was also able to put up a close fight against Tay-Tay, with his six nominations, of which three of them included the 'Video of the Year', the 'Best Editing' and 'Best Choreography' for his hit track 'Thinking Out Loud'.

On the overall, Taylor Swift won the 'Video of the Year' and shared smiles with her former rival Nicki Minaj, whom she previously had a feud with on Twitter.

Upon receiving the biggest award for the night, Swift did not miss out thanking the people behind her successful music video 'Bad Blood' including Kendrick Lamar whose rap has been featured in the video and her other co-stars.

"There are two women in the video who I've named cats after," Swift said. "I love them so much.. There's been a lot of discussion of this video and what it means, but I'm just happy that, in 2015, we live in a world where boys can play princesses, and girls can play soldiers."

For the record, most of the awards won by an artist over the years are still currently held by Madonna, who compiles a total of 20 trophies. Other winners of the 2015 MTV VMAs include Nicki Minaj's 'Anaconda' for the 'Best Hip-Hop' Video award and Mark Ronson Ft. Bruno Mars' 'Uptown Funk' for the 'Best Male Video' award.

The star-studded event was filled with performances from the industry's biggest artists, including Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, Pharrell Williams and Twenty One Pilots.
