A group of mourners smashed a concrete tomb after hearing a dead teenager, who reportedly woke up in the coffin, screaming from the inside.
Reports say that the family members of the 16-year-old dead teenager named Neysi Perez, helped in the smashing of the tomb in attempt to free Neysi after her voice was heard.
The relatives who also turned out frantic about the incident, claimed that the viewing glass window on the coffin was broken and her husband, Rudy Gonzales, reported a muffled screaming being heard from within the coffin.
However, as the medics arrived for assistance, there have been no signs of life and the dead body was laid to rest again.
"As I put my hand on her grave I could hear noises inside. I heard banging, then I heard her voice. She was screaming for help.", the husband said.
He added, "It had already been a day since we buried her. I couldn't believe it. I was ecstatic, full of hope."
Prior to Perez's death, it is believed that the young girl who was three months pregnant, woke up at midnight to use their outside toilet in her home in La Entrada, Honduras, when she began feeling dizzy and eventually became unconscious.
The mother-to-be was seen frothing her mouth and a local priest near their home tried to exorcise her as her religious parents believed she was being possessed by an evil spirit.
Perez was pronounced dead three hours later upon arrival at the hospital. The doctors concluded that "she may have initially had a severe panic attack" which temporarily stopped her heart, causing Perez to wake up in the coffin.
On the other hand, her family didn't like how the doctors were allegedly being too quick to sign the death certificate.
While the husband claimed he heard his wife screaming, the cemetery worker, Jesus Villanueva said, "I convinced myself that the screams were coming from somewhere else. I never imagined that there was someone alive in there."
