JJ Abrams Reveals New Details about Star Wars Villain Kylo Ren

Aside from the menacing outfit and unique Lightsaber design, not much is known about Kylo Ren.

The masked figure being played by Adam Driver who will serve as the antagonist for the highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

However, in a recent interview with Empire Magazine, director JJ Abrams peeled back the curtain on the character and gave us some hints of what we can expect when the film hits theatres this December.

Abrams starts out by clearly stating that Kylo Ren is not a Sith.

"Kylo Ren is not a Sith, he works under Supreme Leader Snoke (being played by Andy Serkis), who is a powerful figure on the Dark Side of the Force." Says Abrams to the magazine.

In a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly, Abrams said that Ren belongs to a different organization, the Knights of Ren.

"He is a character who came to the name Kylo Ren when he joined a group called the Knights of Ren. He is not your prototypical mustache-twirling bad guy, He is a little bit more complex than that."

Abrams also shed some light on The First Order, the mysterious organization that Snoke heads which is rumored to be composed of the remnants of the Galactic Empire.

He compared the group to the Nazi's of World War II.

According to Adam,"All came out of conversations about what would have happened if the Nazis all went to Argentina but then started working together again? What could be born of that?" ...."Could The First Order exist as a group that actually admired The Empire? Could the work of The Empire be seen as unfulfilled? And could Vader be a martyr? Could there be a need to see through what didn't get done?"

To see what Abrams is talking about we'll have to wait until The Force Awakens hits theatres on December 17.
