Katherine Webb, the former Miss Alabama who set the web on fire with her good looks, has finally spoken up about ESPN announcer Brent Musberger's colorful commentary about her beauty. The 73-year-old Musberger was exuberant in his praise of her looks in the Alabama BCS Football Championship victory over Notre Dame.
Webb was at the game to cheer on her flame, Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron. The two met on Twitter, a sign of the times, and have been a couple for only a month. But their relationship is now headline news, and they are trending on - wait for it - Twitter.
The beautiful young lady now has over 230,000 followers. McCarron? About 134,000. But at least he has a championship under his belt.
Musberger was apparently smitten by Webb when the cameras focused on her during an interlude in the broadcast. He wasn't the only one. NFL defensive end Darnell Dockett, of the Arizona Cardinals, followed suit by tweeting his telephone number to the beauty queen.
Even LeBron James followed her, then thought better of it and unfollowed. Things can get strange quickly on Twitter like that.
ESPN VP of Communications Mike Soltys apologized for Musberger, but Webb responded by saying an apology was not necessary. She went on to retweet:
Charlie Daniels @CharlieDaniels
I saw nothing wrong with Brent Musberger pointing out AJ McCarron's girlfriend in the stands at the national championship game last night.
She also tried to put the focus back on the champions of the game:
"I'm flattered...but I think we need to draw back our focus to who the real winners are." -@_katherinewebb
Sounds like a very fine lady, and one who has her priorities straight. Maybe Musberger was right to be smitten by her.
