Microsoft has announced that an enhancement of the Start menu of the outdated Windows RT will be released this coming September. The company will also be updating the lock screen of the tablets running on the operating system.
"If you're running Windows RT, your device won't upgrade to Windows 10. We will have an update available in September 2015 that will improve the Start menu and lock screen," the company stated in its FAQ.
Though Windows RT powered devices will not be upgraded to the latest operating system released by the company in July, it will be having some of the functionality of Windows 10. However, the tech company did not reveal if the Start menu and lock screen changes are the only features that will be added.
Users with devices running on Windows RT have been itching to take advantage of the impressive features of the new operating system. The OS which is the defunct ARM version of Windows 8 is becoming undesirable to the users.
Earlier, Microsoft announced that it will not release the full version of Windows 10 for Windows RT devices and the company will still be sticking to what they said. Even after the update in September, the devices can only support the apps that are built for the Windows 8.1 platform. Therefore, the Touch Office apps that require the new operating system will not be available for tablet users.
