Lou Diamond Phillips Star In 'Night Stalker' as Serial Killer Richard Ramirez

Lou Diamond Phillips has signed up for the role of serial killer Richard Ramirez of the movie The Night Stalker. The production is scheduled to start this summer. The Night Stalker is an indie drama by writer-director Megan Griffiths.

The film is inspired by true events about the Richard Ramirez's history of violence, during his onotorious 1984-85 killing spree, that got him the name -Night Stalker. The story is also about the lawyer who tried to save Ramirez from execution, so as long as Ramirez gives a statement admitting that he is guilty of the crime accused of him.

Richard Ramirez was convicted of 13 murders and never expressed any deep regret. He also admitted that he is a Satanist. 

Ramirez reportedly told the judge, jurors and the family of his victims: "You don't understand me. You are not expected to. You are not capable of it. I am beyond your experience. I will be avenged. Lucifer dwells in us all."

In 2013 Ramirez died on death row of complications from B-cell lymphoma. 

The Night Stalker film's director is Megan Griffiths, with producers Producers are Alisa Tager (Enemy at the Gates) and Matthew R. Brady (Grassroots).

Director Megan Griffiths stated: "I grew up in Southern California and spent the summer of 1985 in the shadow of Ramirez, and it has been a fascinating process to delve into the history in writing this script," Griffiths added: "I could not be more excited to see Lou Diamond Phillips bring this intense character to life."

Global Artists Agency and Thruline Entertainment represented Lou Diamond Phillips and director Megan Griffiths is represented by WME and Untitled Entertainment.

Phillips did the drama series Longmire, and he also appeared in the Chilean miner drama The 33, alongside Antonio Banderas.

The Night Stalker is in progress, and the movie will definitely gain attention from viewers with Lou Diamond Phillips' participation in it.

Megan Griffiths also directed Toni Collette and Johnny Depp's 'Lucky Them,' and 'Eden' which stars Jamie Chung and Beau Bridges.
