Michael Bay Franchise Bad Boys 3 - Joe Carnahan to Direct the Film

Bad Boys back in 1995 was a big hit from director Michael Bay that earned a solid $140 million worldwide. The franchise's success was carried on with Bad Boys II in 2003 earning over $270 million. After the franchise's accomplishments, Bad Boys 3 has always been on the production waiting list needing the exact right moment for the sequel to roll.

The expectation that Michael Bay will direct the third sequel of Bad Boys came down to a blur, after Transformers hitting theaters in 2007, director Michael Bay got locked down indefinitely.

According to NY Daily News, Sony said they will be having Joe Carnahan to direct the third installment of the movie franchise that stars Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. Writer and director Joe Carnahan did the film "The Grey" and "The A-Team".

Having director Joe Carnahan on board for the Bad Boys 3, may have finally taken out Michael Bay in the movie equation.

Martin Lawrence talked about the project's onward movement: "I just talked to (producer) Jerry Bruckheimer yesterday and he said it's real, they're working on the script, they're getting close, and it all looks good."

The film's producers are pushing for this as as quickly as possible, as this will be Will Smith's next project right after he finishes up the Suicide Squad movie.

A recent post of Inquisitr stated: "Guggenheim has already written a strong draft, so Carnahan wouldn't need to work on a Bad Boys 3 script from scratch."

Michael Bay is considered to be one of the most successful directors working in Hollywood, it would be a huge challenge for Joe Carnahan to take over the movie Bad Boys 3 - considering the caliber of his predecessor Michael Bay.

Joe Carnahan however is not new to the field, as he has had his fair share of action packed movies under his belt.

Director Carnahan is proven to be the perfect fill-in for the shoes of Michael Bay, as he has also directed action films such as Narc, Smokin Aces and The A-Team.
