Screenwriter Kelly Marcel Refuses To Watch Fifty Shades of Grey

Kelly Marcel, screenwriter of the controversial film adaptation of the book Fifty Shades of Grey, said that she will never watch the movie because of her clash with the author of the book, E.L. James. It was reported that when Marcel made the script for the movie, James made many changes to the script which left Marcel "heartbroken". The 41 year old writer said that watching the film would be too painful as it is "much different" to the one she had originally imagined. She said, "My heart really was broken by that process, I really mean it. I don't see it out of any kind of bitterness or anger or anything like that. I just don't feel like I can watch it without feeling some pain about how different it is to what I initially wrote."

Fifty Shades of Grey is an erotic romance novel created by British author, E.L. James in 2011. It is a part of a trilogy that depicts a deep relationship between college graduate, Anastasia Steele, and a young businessman name Christian Grey. It is notable for its explicitly erotic scenes featuring elements of sexual practices involving bondage/discipline, dominance/submission, and masochism/sadism. It quickly became a bestseller in the UK and in the US. The series has sold over 90 million copies worldwide by November 2013 and has been translated into 52 different languages and set a record in the United Kingdom as the fastest-selling paperback of all time.

It has become a worldwide phenomenon, and has quickly captured the hearts of millions of readers and movie goers alike around the world. Though the story-line is clearly for a more mature audience, it still carries a subtle romantic side which fans will surely love to see, books, internet, and on screen. We can expect more passionate scenes to come in the upcoming Fifty Shades Darker movie which is the continuation of the first film.
