McDonald’s Shamrock Shake Back For St. Patrick’s Day, Until Mid-March!

Besides the colors of spring and fall, one of the best things about seeing the year and its seasons go by stands in the different food franchises across the country, as the passage of months also signifies different times for seasonal drinks ... like the McDonald's Shamrock Shake!

While it wasn't officially introduced nationwide until very recently (think 2012), the McDonald's Shamrock Shake has become a spring favorite in America, as the mint-flavored drink comes up to celebrate one of the most fun holidays of all, St. Patrick's Day, a time to rejoice in the arrival of spring, consume beer and wear (and drink!) lots of green things!

The Huffington Post reports that the chain with the golden arches has now officially announced the return of the popular McDonald's Shamrock Shake from late February until mid-March. The site also reports that the holiday favorite was originally introduced in 1970, originally being called the "St. Patrick's Day Shake," only available in a few of the restaurant's venues across the country.

In any case, the Ronald McDonald house took to Twitter to announce the return of McDonald's Shamrock Shake, along with a funny and quirky short video that features a traffic light showing off its different colors, and filling up with the shake when it reached green!

Now, as excited as one might be about the return of the popular McDonald's Shamrock Shake, it's important to take it slow, even if it does just come once a year. According to The Inquisitr, the small version of the shake has 530 calories and 15g of fat, while the medium-sized one hosts 660 calories and 19g of fat, with the large one (which is 22 ounces), has 23 grams of fat and an astonishing 820 calories.

Excess never served anyone well!

The McDonald's Shamrock Shake will be sold in every venue of the fast food chain across the United States, according to Broward Palm Beach, as well as select restaurants in Canada. Try it out this year, if you haven't already - and don't forget to wear green when you do!
