Have you recently purchased a Helados Mexico Mini Cream Variety Pack? There's a chance it may be affected by a voluntary recall due to a potential Salmonella contamination. Here's what you need to know.
Tropicale Foods of Modesto, CA is voluntarily recalling 5,224 units of Helados Mexico Mini Cream Variety Packs. The specific packs affected have a best by date of "MO Best By 10/11/2025" printed on the bottom of the retail box.
Routine product testing revealed the mango bars within the variety pack may contain Salmonella. Salmonella is a bacteria that can cause serious illness, especially in young children, frail or elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems.
People infected with Salmonella often experience symptoms like fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare cases, Salmonella can lead to more severe illnesses.
The potentially contaminated variety packs were shipped to retail locations in Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Washington D.C., and certain locations in Europe.
According to the FDA's announcement, no illnesses from the contaminated product have been reported to date and Tropicale Foods has ceased distribution of the affected bars. It also says that the company is investigating the problem and taking action to prevent any issues in the future.
If you have a Helados Mexico Mini Cream Variety Pack with the "MO Best By 10/11/2025" best by date, do not consume it. Please dispose of the product immediately.
Consumers with questions about the recall can contact Tropicale Foods at (909) 563-3090 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Pacific Time, Monday through Friday.
