'Supergirl' is expected to take its first flight today.
As the new female superhero of CBS soars up in the sky, Melissa Benoist's career is also expected to go up along with her character in the new drama series.
'Supergirl' is the newest talk of the town. Even before the launching of the highly anticipated drama, many fans and famous personalities are already expecting for it to hit the TV screens like the presidential candidate Jeb Bush who finds the Melissa Benoist "hot".
With the popularity of the new American series about the cousin of Superman Kara Zor-El, the creators of the show are expecting for high ratings and a boost in the career of the 27-year-old actress.
The producers of 'Supergirl' are confident with Melissa Benoist even though she is not yet a superstar. The actress who was featured on a season of 'Glee' is exactly the top choice of the creators of the new CBS show.
"She was the first person we saw and we looked at each other and were blown away, and we were like, 'We have to get a diamond ring for that girl,'" said Ali Adler, the executive producer of the series.
To be different, the 'Supergirl' makers made sure that the show will not be an iteration of the one in the comic. The lead star Melissa Benoist personally likes the approach since it makes them unique while still sticking to the original story.
"I didn't read the comic as a kid. But I've immersed myself in the mythology now, so I know she's a very different character than she is in the comic. We didn't want to be the same iteration," Benoist stated.
Unlike other superhero dramas like the 'Flash' and the 'Arrow', 'Supergirl' will be brighter. Melissa Benoist as Supergirl will take a different path from her superhero predecessors.
