'Blindspot' actress Jaimie Alexander, said that amidst her busy schedule it is important for her to have healthy meals throughout the day. She says that she is very much aware that she needs something to keep her energy up so she can keep up with her busy schedule.
"I have very long, full days at work and don't get much of a break to eat, so it's important that I have good snacking food," the actress explained to PEOPLE. "I need something I can grab on the run and eat throughout the day between scenes to give me energy, to feel full and to keep my metabolism functioning."
Luckily for the 31 year old actress she has a close friend to help her with her diet, her stunt double, Ky Furneaux. "We have been friends for over ten years and currently live together while filming in New York," says Alexander. "It's easy for Ky to make a little extra of the same food she eats - for me."
Alexander believes that the key to healthy eating is a balanced meal, even if it includes eating something you desire. "I don't deny myself a treat every now and then, like fresh chocolate chip cookies," she said. "Healthy eating should be part of your lifestyle rather than a chore you dread."
She explained how she keeps her meals balanced, saying that she drinks 3 liters of water everyday to keep herself hydrated.
For breakfast she drinks coffee with almond milk, or a protein smoothie with a scoop of sunflower vanilla vegan protein. During lunch she eats two scrambled eggs folded with mushrooms, spinach, cheese and a pesto corn tortilla. As a snack, she opts for organic juice with kale, cucumber and celery, one fruit for fiber and arugula salad with olive oil, sprinkled with parmesan cheese. Some days she eats chocolate cookies, half a cup of raw almonds and a cup of veggies with hummus dip. For dinner, she has salmon, steamed broccoli, carrots and green beans.
