Costco's Newest Bakery Item Is Causing Loads Of Backlash

Costco, the land of bulk bargains and legendary bakery items, has unveiled a new treat that's dividing shoppers: Sugared Orange Rolls. Priced at $8.99, these citrusy swirls have been popping up in warehouses nationwide, but their reception has been far from uniform.

Churro Meets Orange Roll?

A TikTok video by @costcoguide describes the Sugared Orange Rolls as a churro mixed with an orange roll, noting that it's like croissant pastry infused with cinnamon orange zest and crowned with sugar. This unique combination has some users intrigued, but others are quick to yuck her yum.

Orange-averse customers are expressing their disapproval of the unconventional flavor pairing. "Doesn't look great. And why orange and cinnamon combo? It's not traditional at all," one person wrote.

Freshness and Frosting Under Fire

Even for those who embraced the orange essence, other aspects fell short. Reddit commenters lamented the lack of frosting and dryness of the rolls. The packaging also received criticism, with concerns about freshness due to the cardboard box.

According to one Redditor, "They were a fail for me bcz they are stale out the door. You can't use a box like this unless you bake fresh EVERY MORNING. I just wish they would package properly," they wrote.

Costco Sugared Orange Rolls Aren't All Bad

Not all Reddit reviews are scathing, though. Some Costco devotees have declared these rolls "amazing" and a perfect morning pick-me-up.
