The U.S. Department of Agriculture is sounding the alarm over potential Salmonella contamination in two popular charcuterie samplers: Fratelli Beretta Antipasto Gran Beretta sold at Costco and Busseto brand Charcuterie Sampler from Sam's Club.
What to look for:
Fratelli Beretta brand Antipasto Gran Beretta black pepper coated dry salami, Italian dry salami, dry coppa, and prosciutto: 24-oz. twin-pack (two 12-oz. trays) bearing establishment number "EST. 7543B" or "EST. #47967" within the USDA mark of inspection.
Busseto Foods Charcuterie Sampler Prosciutto, Sweet Sopressata, and Dry Coppa: 18-oz. twin-pack (two 9-oz. trays) with "EST. #47967" inside the USDA mark of inspection.
Important: These products are no longer available for purchase but could still be lurking in your fridge. Do not consume them! Throw them away or return them to the store for a full refund.
Why the concern?
47 cases of Salmonella illness in 22 states have been linked to these samplers. Symptoms include diarrhea, cramps, and fever, usually within 6 hours to 6 days of consuming the contaminated product. While most recover without treatment, some, especially young children, seniors, and individuals with weakened immune systems, may require hospitalization.
Take action:
Check your fridge for the recalled products.
Don't consume them if you have them.
Throw them away or return them for a refund.
Contact your healthcare provider if you experience symptoms of Salmonella.
