Spam burger or sandwich is something people like to eat when you are in a hurry or famished, but when McDonald's released their version of the sandwich with a twist, question marks pop out of the head of their patrons.

The company's approach to attracting more customers, Associated Press reports that the sandwich will be a collaboration by three companies through their novel menu that will only be available in the People's Republic of China and will be sold every Monday.

Huffington Post stresses that the sandwich or burger will be composed of two slices of Spam from Hormel Foods, LLC, topped with Oreo cookie crumbs, a product from Mondelez International. The news site adds that mayonnaise will be on top of cookie crumbs and will be sealed by McDonald's burger buns.

Associated Press furthers this is not the first-time global brands from restaurants to automakers sometimes announce weird or offbeat products to appeal to Chinese tastes to have an edge in the countries populous and competitive market.

Different Reactions

The novel burger by the company gathers different reactions from people over the internet and from those who have already tasted the product.

Business Insider describes the reviews of the product from the Weibo users, China's social media app, to be lukewarm, stating that some of them say that the burger is edible enough.

Huffington Post also mentions a comment on the company's microblog on Weibo, that states, there is no need for the company to release unnecessary products, that gathered the attention of 2,000 people gauged through the like the comment earned.

Meanwhile, Associated Press points out a comment from a Weibo user named Feifei Mao Enthusiast that says the burger is surprisingly delicious. This led her to question herself if her love for the fast-food chain influenced the taste or if there is something erroneous with her sense of taste.

Huffington Post furthers that McDonald's is planning to sell no more than 400,000 lunchmeat burgers, although it is not yet clear how many were able to sell by the company or if the people who posted the backlash had already eaten one.

McDonald's Menu around the world

It is not the first time the company has released a menu that is bizarre for its customers. Coventry Live reports that different countries are offering a different menu to suit the taste of the people who will be their potential customers.

In 2017, Eat This Not That mentions a menu from McDonald's Hong Kong, in which bacon-infused macaroni and cheese as a filling into their sandwich. Also called bacon, macaroni, and cheese toastie, the website adds that adding the sandwich into the mix did not do the sandwich any favor.

Coventry Live also mentions the McShrimp Burger, which was available in some countries such as Japan and Russia. The new site notes that the patty is made from breaded shrimps, topped with a salad then enclosed in a burger bun.

Although some of the people do not hop on the trend to try McDonald's new menu, promotions like the Spam Burger with Oreo crumbs and mayo, was somehow like by some of their Chinese patrons, and we can't wait for what the company will come up next on their menu.
