Getting into the holiday spirit, McDonald's is giving away free food on Christmas Eve for everyone to enjoy.
According to CNN, starting December 14, the fast-food giant will offer favorite McDonald's food of Christmas fictional characters. All these will be possible when customers will have a $1 minimum order and place it using the McDonald's app.
The promotion will showcase a different menu each day from different characters. According to USA Today, the fictional Christmas characters include Buddy the Elf, who prefers syrupy Hotcakes; Frosty the Snowman, whose favorite item is a McFlurry; The Grinch with an Egg McMuffin and Seinfeld's Frank Costanza with a Festivus freebie on Dec. 23.
It will also feature a McDouble for John McClane from Die Hard, a medium fries for Rudolph, coffee for Scrooge. The promotion will kick off with a double cheeseburger in honor of the Griswold family from "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation." In addition, on Christmas Eve, McDonald's is giving away free chocolate chip cookies even without the $1 minimum purchase.
As per Morgan Flatley, McDonald's U.S. Chief Marketing Officer stated that with a year like 2020, we could all use some extra cheer this season, and there is no better way to celebrate the holiday than with free McDonald's menu favorites for everyone, including Rudolph, the Abominable Snow Monster and even Scrooge.
Additionally, the characters' favorite menu items will have a special collaboration with musicians Travis Scott and J Balvin.
These two artists also had their favorite meals available for a limited time. McDonald's also said that these holiday characters are the latest icons to have their favorite food items featured at participating stores nationwide. Moreover, adding daily in-app deals will also celebrate the go-to orders of characters from classic holiday movies like Die Hard, Gremlins, and Christmas Vacation.

To keep track of the freebies and offers from McDonald's, here are the promos they will be releasing daily. Take note that the freebies will be available at participating locations only. Additionally, each item is valid one time per day with a $1 minimum purchase on its mobile app.
- On December 14: The Griswolds will get you a free Double Cheeseburger.
- On December 15: The Abominable Snow Monster gets you a free Big Mac.
- On December 16: The Grinch comes with a free Egg McMuffin.
- On December 17: John McClane can get you a free McDouble.
- On December 18: Rudolph offers a free medium Fry.
- On December 19: Gizmo gets you free 6-piece McNuggets.
- On December 20: Buddy the Elf can get you free Hotcakes.
- On December 21: Scrooge offers free any size Hot or Iced Coffee.
