Christmas is now hours away yet many are still not yet ready for the biggest celebration of the year. Many are still opting for last minute shopping for some reason.
Stores and supermarkets have already prepared themselves for the busiest days before Christmas day comes. Business establishments are already expecting large numbers of shoppers that will flood in their stores to buy for the things need for the holiday celebration.
According to poll, around 31 percent of the consumers will be doing their Christmas food shop hours before the special event. Most stores and supermarkets have predicted large volume of shoppers at around 11am to 1pm on Wednesday.
Credit card companies also released their predicted number of transactions. Visa Europe is expecting for a £1.3 billion spending and 3.2 million transactions. Late minute shopping for Christmas is always considered as the biggest shopping day of the year.
Though consumers started their Christmas shopping early beginning on Black Friday, two days before big day will still hold the biggest record as projected by Visa Europe. Just like the previous, the remaining two days before Christmas will be the busiest. The streets will be filled with shoppers and consumers.
"More than £1 million will be spent on Visa cards every minute, rising to nearer £2 million every minute during the lunch time rush between 1pm and 2pm," the company revealed.
Since everything will be on the rush, shoppers will be demanding for faster and easier transactions which most companies have been preparing for.
Moreover, supermarkets are also making major preparations for the Christmas Eve when buyers will flood to purchase for last minute gifts for their loved ones. Though all are aware of the disadvantages of last minute shopping, many are still doing so. Some consumers are shopping late for sales and discounts while others are too busy for an early shopping.
