Planning on Drinking This Weekend? There are Dangers to Weekend Benders

In a recent study, three-quarters of emergency room admissions are caused by having too much consumption of alcohol. In this study, it was found that people who did not live in the city are much more prone to being drowned in alcohol drinking compared to those who actually live in the city.

That means, weekend party-goers are more likely going to end up in hospitals with high levels of alcohol in their system, according to a study from an England based hospital.

Based on the data, the biggest chunk of hospital visitors come from young college men. These emergency room visits amount to $1.5 million a year.

The younger batch has more attendance in the ER compared to the older group of adult males.

In the United States, the National Institute for Health statistically counted that one-third of emergency trips in hospitals are related to alcohol specific reasons from young adults under 21 years of age. The NHS record also indicate that these visits are combined with other drugs. The actual number may be much higher, nation-wide.

According to a U.S study, adults, both young and old, are advised to take it easy during the weekend.

Dr. David Jernigan, associate professor at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, led the study and found that certain types and brands of alcohol are the leading causes of ER visits. Vodka being the highest and five brands of beer right under the list. These findings are limited to surveys taken from Baltimore alone but Jernigan suggests caution to all alcohol consumers all the same.

Especially that the New Year and Christmas is coming up, it's a sure thing that wines and other liquor bottles are being iced and chilled. In the same study, the researchers recommend to avoid vodka because patients admitted through the ER have found to be vodka drinkers as well as other drinks such as Bud Ice, Budweiser, Bud Light, Colt 45 and Steel Reserve.

If consumers would like to have a successful and no-hang-over weekend, it's best to drink moderately or not at all, as online sources indicated.
