As fans around the world anxiously wait to see if Kit Harrington's Jon Snow recovers from the 'Game of Thrones Season 5' finale and actually resurrect from Olly's treachery, a few other surprises are also lined up by the show.
Basically, fans screamed foul over the brutal rape of Sansa Stark in the hands of Ramsay Bolton in 'Season 5' and the creators listened. Similarly, followers also expressed a rather strong dislike for the switch to an assault scene between Jaime and Cersei Lannister from George R.R. Martin's original consensual design of this scene.
Director Jeremy Podeswa reveals that creators David Benioff and DB Weiss have taken onboard the popular response of the public to the rape treatments in the previous episodes and, in fact, "were responsive to the discussion and there were a couple of things that changed as a result."
He adds: "It is important that (the producers) not self-censor. The show depicts a brutal world where horrible things happen. They did not want to be too overly influenced by that (criticism) but they did absorb and take it in and it did influence them in a way".
Will the show that's gone 'too far' in violence numerous times in the past really change spots now? Only 'Season 6' will tell.
In the meantime Natalie Dormer's Margaery Tyrell, who was arrested for lying on behalf of her brother - Finn Jones' Loras - during the Holy Inquest, will be seen with an intriguing new partner: "The beauty of 'Game of Thrones' is it's always making these unlikely pairings from one season to the next. We all, season to season, get thrown in with a new sparring partner.
"And I've actually had a new sparring partner this season because Margaery is in jail and Cersei (Lena Headey), obviously, after the walk of shame got back into the Keep."
The strongest bets for the other half of this new pairing are Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce).
Natalie reveals further that author George R.R. Martin is still very deeply involved: "Showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss are not completely absent of George's influence because he [George] is a producer on the show, and they all had a pow-wow a couple of years ago.
"They know where it's got to go and what George's intentions for the characters are. But they are just filling in the gaps."
