Miss Universe 2015 ended dramatically after Steve Harvey admitted that he made a "horrible mistake." Crowd went wild after he cleared that the real winner of the pageant was Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, following his first proclamation that the winner was Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez, when in fact she was the first runner up.
While Harvey took responsibility and admitted in front of the crowd that he made a huge mistake. Miss Colombia, who thought she had won the beauty pageant, just stood on the stage and looked visibly shocked.
After the prestigious event, Miss Colombia has spoken with INO and graciously responded about the incident. "Everything happens for a reason, so I'm happy. I'm happy for all of what I did for becoming this ... I'm so happy. Thank you for all. Thank you for voting for me," Miss Gutierrez said while wiping her tears.
Her classy response was later consoled by the newly wed actress, Sofia Vergara. She wrote, "La Reina de todos modos" which translate "Still the Queen" in English.
Harvey also took to Twitter to apologize to Miss Philippines and Miss Colombia for the beauty pageant snafu. "I'd like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake. I feel terrible."
After his initial tweet, Harvey then posted another message, saying, "Secondly, I'd like to apologize to the viewers at that I disappointed as well. Again it was an honest mistake."
Miss Universe organizers also released a statement, apologizing to Miss Philippines and Miss Colombia as well as to the viewers for the honest mistake.
"Unfortunately, a live telecast means that human error can come into play," the organizers explained. "We witnessed that tonight when the wrong winner was initially announced."
The pageant snafu definitely created a commotion worldwide, but still Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez handle it gracefully, showing that she is a true Queen.
