Disney's The BFG Teaser Trailer is Here! Let the Witching Hour Begin!

Sophie thinks the witching hour is at 3:00 AM even if everybody else thinks it is at midnight. She knows she's not supposed to get out of bed, never go to the window and never look behind the curtain but she does it anyway.

Ruby Barnhill plays Sophie in Disney's new movie, a Steven Spielberg adaptation of Roald Dahl's The BFG.

In 1989, an animated film version based on the book by Roald Dahl was also shown with David Jason as the voice of the Big Fat Giant and Amanda Roots as Sophie. The children's book published in 1982 had illustrations by Quentin Blake. The BFG however is an expansion Dahl's 1975 story book titled Danny, the Champion of the World.

The upcoming Spielberg fantasy film will be a live adaptation of the book and is currently in production.

It's a story of a little girl who is much more curious than little girls should be. The orphan Sophie doesn't obey the rules and stays up at 3:00 AM not knowing what she'll find until one fateful night she discovers a Big Friendly Giant because she got out of bed, went to the window and looked behind the curtain. The awkward pair forms a friendship that sets them off on an adventure that involves the help of the Queen of England. Their mission - is to save the world from the invasion of man-eating giants.

The Big Fat Giant is voiced by Tony Award Winner Mark Rylance who also starred in 2015 Bridge of Spies.

The Disney movie is directed by Steven Spielberg. The Screenplay penned by Melissa Mathison. Bill Hader, Penelope Wilton and Rebecca Hall also join the cast.

As Sophie tells us, "that is where our story begins". The movie is scheduled to air in theaters on July 1, 2016, as reports indicated.
