Tom Welling 2015: ‘Smallville’ Clark Kent Is Back On TV For CBS Spy Drama, Almost 5 Years After Leaving Superman Role

Before Ian Somerhalder became the sexiest vampire on television, another tall and strong brunette with blue eyes made women all over the world swoon, hopelessly in love, as Tom Welling took the role of the Man of Steel on television in "Smallville," later practically fading into obscurity - but now, Tom Welling's 2015 return is finally coming!

In the four years since "Smallville" ended, the handsome actor has only been in front of the camera for two projects, the Kevin Costner-starring "Draft Day" and the Nicholas Sparks adaptation "The Choice," but it has now been announced that he's coming back to television with Tom Welling's 2015 show.

According to Deadline, Tom Welling's 2015 project with CBS is a new show that he will not only star in but also executive produce, under the title "Section 13," and it will be a spy drama centering on a former CIA black ops officer who now works as a private contractor and ends up joining an organization that carries out dangerous assignments.

This Tom Welling 2015 project is currently in development, and it will see the star teaming up with past pals, considering it's also produced by Warner Bros. TV as well as his own studio-based production company.

AV Club reports that Carla Kettner, famous for her work in the long-running show "Bones," will be co-producing and writing the new Tom Welling 2015 show, which might just see the actor leaving his typecast supergood guy role to go for something darker, as his character supposedly goes on higher-risk operations after a "personal tragedy."

According to Cinema Blend, Welling's series seems to be in the very early stages of production for now, so it's just as possible that it doesn't get picked up, as pilot season usually piles up with projects - but hopefully this does mean Tom Welling's 2015 return to television!
