Red carpets are usually dominated by female celebrities, but all eyes were on James Blunt and Ed Sheeran at the Arias on Wednesday night.
That’s because the British singers held hands while posing for photos at the Australian music awards, and were super pleased with themselves about it.
Ed posted a hilarious photo to his Instagram on November 26 of him holding hands and looking extra friendly with fellow British singer James, captioning the pic, “We would like to announce our engagement.”
The picture received over 132,000 likes within 3 hours after it was posted. While Sheeran appeared to be joking in the caption, many fans seemingly believed it.
James’ wife probably had something to say about that, especially during an interview where Ed announced: "[James] is my male lover, we’ve just come out together, it’s a recent thing."
The pair continued their jokes onstage too.
James later presented Ed with an award, where the winner regaled a story about going to one of his gigs when he was 14 and stealing his beer.
Blunt responded in typical fashion: "That’s where you got the herpes from, mate."
In real life, Ed is currently dating Cherry Seaborn, who he started seeing in September roughly six months after parting ways with Athina Andrelos.
But Cherry isn’t some random that he met on tour. He’s actually known the singer for years. The couple attended school together at Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham, Suffolk, according to the Mirror UK.
During their Labor Day weekend, Ed was overheard telling his friends about Cherry and he reportedly made it clear she was his gal.
The pair spent the holiday weekend hanging out in Las Vegas, Nevada with Calvin Harris and a few friends. Taylor Swift‘s boyfriend even shared a group picture of himself alongside Ed and Cherry on Instagram. “What a crew at Wet Republic today,” he wrote after the show.
